Andimeshk is a city in Khuzestan province, Iran, located about 7km north of Dezful, on the main road and the rail line from Tehran to Ahvaz. The name first appears in cuneiform tablets from Mesopotamia from the Ur III period (21st to 20th century BCE) in the form Adamshakh, with a probable meaning "Crocodile (Town)."
It had an estimated population of 179,797 in 2005,[1] and is the administrative centre of Andimeshk County.
