Selected Lego articleThe Brick Testament is a project created by Brendan Powell Smith in which Bible stories are illustrated in parody using still photographs of dioramas constructed entirely out of Lego bricks. The project began as a website in October 2001 that featured six stories from the book of Genesis. There is also a Brick Testament book series. The project uses Lego as an art medium. Smith asserts that the project adheres to the scripture of the Christian bible. All stories are retold using passages from the Bible, with chapter and verse cited. Smith has updated most of the stories with his own wording which is based on a number of public domain Bible translations. Smith also introduces his own written commentary in the illustrations, where characters are sometimes portrayed as saying or thinking words that are not direct quotes from Smith's own wording of the Bible. Such text is displayed in gray instead of the usual black. The website and book series have been released for use to religious groups and to those who do not profess religious belief. The Brick Testament has been cited as support by some who assert absurdities in the Bible. (more...) edit
Selected Bionicle articleBionicle Legends is the third book series based in the Bionicle universe. It is currently ongoing, and covers the events that are occurring in the storyline's 2006-2008 story arc. It follows the Bionicle Adventures series; but as Adventures is almost exclusively told in flashbacks, the events preceding those in Legends are told in the first book series, Bionicle Chronicles. In Bionicle Legends, the Great Spirit Mata Nui is dying, and the universe will die with him if nothing is done. A new group of Toa must find the Mask of Life that can save him before it is too late, but other more sinister groups also want such a powerful mask. The 2006 arc of Legends was adapted into the Bionicle Heroes video game, but the game is non-canon and has many inconsistencies with the actual storyline. (more...) edit
